So my contract has finally run out. My sister and I are on the same deal with Vodacom, but have decided that the Virgin offer of 1000 sms’s and R150 airtime for R150 a month was just too tempting. So we have just been waiting for my father to find some time when we are free to go and sign the new deals. Trust me that is easier said than done!
My dad recently won a HTC Touch Diamond (very awesome!) and he is also due an upgrade at the moment. So, with my sister taking my mom’s fancy upgrade I have managed to persuade my father to allow me to take his upgrade. Nokia N78 here I come. It was between that and the N81, but the N78 come out on top.

If you want to go and check out some of the features of my new toy, click here. I placed the order this morning, so I am hoping that I will have it by the end of the week! So far, I know it has GPS, a 3.15MP fancy camera and WiFi.
It is not surprising really with the world economic situation at the moment. What is surprising though, is that according to Microsoft this is the first time in 23 years that their sales have dropped. 23 years. Yes, you have read that correctly. 23 years. According to numbers that the company has just released, sales fell 6 percent year-over-year, while overall net income dropped a staggering 32 percent.
I think this will cause a fair bit of panic over at Microsoft, but I don’t think Microsoft are going anywhere in the near future, so don’t worry. That does leave Windows 7 under quite a bit of pressure to be a success.
On the other hand though, their fierce rivals are doing the exact opposite. Apple keeps selling iPods, iPhones and Macs. The company just reported a $1.21b profit on revenues of $8.16b.
Firstly let me explain what the Kindle is. It is a nifty little thing that allows you to be able to connect to the Amazon Store using WiFi and download your book of choice. From here, you can read the book like a normal book, using the “Next Page” and “Previous Page” buttons on the sides to change the pages, otherwise you can use the “Start Text-to-Speech” mode. So in other words, it is a whole bunch of books, but in the size of one small compact version. Quite Awesome yes.
Not so, for a few customers though. Amazon managed to create a bit of confusion when it started to suspend users accounts for having an “extraordinary”amount of product returns. All he was doing in fact was returning goods that had arrived defective and merely doing what any consumer would do, and return the product.
Because of this, the man was unable to read magazine subscriptions that he had already paid for, as well as he could no longer purchase new items. Luckily the man in case was able to turn around Amazon and have his account reinstated. Others have not been so lucky, and unfortunately still remain without their readers.
You know the saying, “two heads are better than one“? Well in this case, it is two great ideas are better than one original idea. Introducing the NokiPhone N3000i.
It incorporates the initial look of the Apple iPhone, but also combines the cool dual-slide feature of the Nokia N95. As you can imagine, this phone is just slightly illegal in the US and Europe. The GSM smartphone’s got a 3.2-inch QVGA screen, WiFi, Bluetooth 2.0, dual SIM support, microSD slot, and video recording capabilities. The Chinese phone goes for $129 right now, which apparently is a steal ;)
