There is no official press release from Apple, but the rumours have started. We knew that there would come a time when the rumours would surface again, and unfortunately it is that time gain. There is a list of fairly detailed specs, but like I said, there is no official word on any of these. They do however seem to be fairly accurate as would have guessed ups in the camera resolution and storage size.
- 32GB and 16GB storage (up from the current 16GB and 8GB models)
- $199 and $299 price points to be maintained
- 3.2-megapixel camera (up from the current 2-megapixel camera)
- Video-recording and editing capabilities
- Ability to send a picture & video via MMS
- Discontinuation of the metal band surrounding the edge of the device
- OLED screen
- 1.5 times the battery life of the current models
- Double the RAM and processing power
- Built-in FM transmitter
- Apple logo on back will glow
- Rubber-tread backing
- Sleeker design
- Built-in compass
- The camera, GPS, compass and Google map combined will identify photo and inform about photo locations
- Turn-by-turn directions
*Please note that the picture is not an actual prototype of any sorts, but rather an image from previous rumours. Read More
I know this is a bit late. I had to down to post, but forget, and have only just remembered to post it! News24 reported this with regards to the auction:
“The Julius Malema puppet has been auctioned off for R100 000, Nando’s said on Thursday.
The puppet which starred in the fast food chain’s recent TV advert and became a “celebrity overnight” was sold to Ryan Lotter from Johannesburg.
It was auctioned for a charity group that funds, among other things, courses in woodwork, the subject Malema notoriously scored a GG for in matric.
“We are very sad to see Julius go because we have become very fond of him and has become a highlight in the office.
“We did however offer him one last Nando’s lunch and he’s always invited to Nando’s anytime,” Nando’s brand manager Lara Easthorpe said in a statement.
According to a report on Independent Online, Lotter said he was considering giving his new puppet to Democratic Alliance leader Helen Zille who Malema recently called a “racist little girl”.”
That is a healthy amount of money for a puppet used in one ad! Julius really is famous now. ;) If you want to get the low down on the entire story click here. Read More
Ouch! In these tough economic times, that is a seriously large amount of money! Wow. They have appealed the decision, but this process is still costing them dearly. Take a look at the article below that I grabbed from the New York Times.
Here is an extract from the article which might help you understand things:
The European Union’s competition commissioner, Neelie Kroes, said the penalty against Intel, the equivalent of $1.45 billion, was justified because the company had skewed competition and denied consumers a choice for chips.
Ms. Kroes said Intel had “used illegal anticompetitive practices to exclude its only competitor and reduce consumers’ choice — and the whole story is about consumers.” She said Intel’s practices had “undermined innovation.” Read More
"Good Day Mate"
On Saturday morning I was off to my school hockey match, and as I arrived I was lucky enough to have the chance to watch a few Ranjasthan Royal cricket players have a practice session in the indoor nets. As I walked past I stopped to watch Morne bowl a ball or two, and then decided to head inside. I was already feeling quite chuffed with myself, but then as I walked in, guess who walked out? Mr Warne. It doesn’t stop there. As I walked past I said good morning, and he promptly replied in a very strong Aussie accent, “Good day mate”.
The Captain has had his fair number of celebrity encounters, but somehow this was better. With the IPL in town, maybe I will be able to see a few more celebrities, but I am not holding thumbs.
Any of you had any encounters with some of the cricketers playing in the IPL? If you let me know below! Read More
Apple Vs. Microsoft
It is not surprising really with the world economic situation at the moment. What is surprising though, is that according to Microsoft this is the first time in 23 years that their sales have dropped. 23 years. Yes, you have read that correctly. 23 years. According to numbers that the company has just released, sales fell 6 percent year-over-year, while overall net income dropped a staggering 32 percent.
I think this will cause a fair bit of panic over at Microsoft, but I don’t think Microsoft are going anywhere in the near future, so don’t worry. That does leave Windows 7 under quite a bit of pressure to be a success.
On the other hand though, their fierce rivals are doing the exact opposite. Apple keeps selling iPods, iPhones and Macs. The company just reported a $1.21b profit on revenues of $8.16b.
